This section of the website describes how members of St Mary's can give financially. A vital part of belonging to the local church is to give – it is not only Biblical, but is a very practical way of demonstrating your commitment and support.
Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 8 that "...each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion". Our giving should therefore be a heartfelt response similar to the way we respond in prayer and worship. These words of Paul should encourage us because they positively tell us that our giving should not be out of a sense of guilt, for "God loves a cheerful giver".
Giving is about much more than money - time is often a scarcer commodity than cash. All members of the church are encouraged to take some time to thoughtfully and prayerfully consider their giving every year.
How you can give
- A regular offering is taken at Sunday services
- By setting up a Standing Order with your bank
By far the easiest and most tax efficient form of giving (and is helpful for our own budget projections) is to set up a Standing Order. Please remember to fill in a Gift Aid form, available at the back of church.
If you would like to discuss giving regularly to St Mary's please contact the Treasurer, via the church office.
Additional offerings are sometimes raised in the event of a disaster, missionary endeavour or building project. These are taken in addition to regular giving.
